Sometimes we complain when we have so many things to do. But when they’re done and we’re left with nothing to work on, we panic. Lord, teach me to welcome rest, specially amid busy times and activity. Teach me to be comfortable with restful silence and alone time, which allow me to listen and lead me to pray.

"This is love: not that we loved God first but that He first loved us and sent His Son.. " (1 John 4:10) God has loved us even before we are born. He loves us even if we don’t always give him our loving response. It’s His love that moves us to love others in return, even if our own loving is lacking.

Someone is pryaing for you, one you may not even know. Somewhere someone remembers in his prayers those who are in need of them. Isn;t this reassuring? Even your relations who have gone ahead and are now with God are praying for you. Make it a habit then to pray for others, known and unknown to you.

The Jesuit Francisco Garate became a saint not by great acts but by ordinary things. A doorkeeper most of his life, "Bro Courtesy" was known for great kindness and generosity:taking care of the sick, feeding the poor, welcoming students with words of advice and consolation. A life that truly opened doors!
